Sony confirms 3D games for this summer سوني تؤكد إصدارها لألعاب فيديو مجسمة هذا الصيف

Talking to Eurogamer during GDC this weekend, Sony’s Simon Benson confirmed that 3D games will be coming out on the PS3 during June. This is the time when Sony’s new 3D Bravia TV sets will be hitting the market.

“Basically, we’re launching our TV range around June, I think, so it should be somewhere around then.”

The PS3 itself will be getting two firmware updates in order to playback stereoscopic 3D content; one update for Bluray movies and another for games. The new stereoscopic Bravias will display images at 120Hz and will also require 3D glasses (somewhat similar to what you find at IMAX) to interpret the images on screen for your eyes to visualise the 3D effects.

While not confirming the exact lineup of games, Benson did say,

“I don’t know if we’ve formally announced what we’re doing for launch. But there is certainly going to be a good range of content – there probably won’t be any unusual surprises, let’s say.”

Earlier this year, Sony did show demos of their upcoming 3D TV sets by showcasing a few games running in stereoscopic 3D, such as WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD, MotorStor: Pacific Rift, Little Big Planet and Gran Turismo 5. While some games will be more eye candy than anything else, such as Super Stardust and Wipeout HD, other games will actually use the depth of field provided by 3D gaming for improved performance. For instance, braking at a corner in GT5 will be such more natural and effective as the eyes can clearly make out the distance and the sense of speed as in real life.

Cumbersome though it may be, what with additional battery powered glasses required, 3D gaming certainly has it’s benefits beyond just the Avatar effect. Hopefully future technology will do away with the glasses altogether; or holograms.

سوني تؤكد إصدارها لألعاب فيديو مجسمة هذا الصيف

أكد “سيايمون بينسون” من شركة سوني، بأنها ستقوم بنشر ألعاب فيديو مجسمة على أجهزة PS3 في شهر يونيو / حزيران القادم، جاء هذا التصريح ضمن مقابلة أجراها مع موقع Eurogamer خلال انعقاد مؤتمر مطوري الألعاب نهاية الأسبوع الماضي. وسيكون ذلك الوقت متزامناً مع موعد إطلاق الشركة لشاشتها المجسمة الجديدة 3D Bravia TV في الأسواق العالمية.

“بشكل أساسي، سنطلق أجهزة تلفزيوناتنا الجديدة خلال شهر يونيو ، وأعتقد أن الألعاب المجسمة ستكون متوفرة عند ذلك الوقت.”

سيتلقى نظام تشغيل بلاي ستيشن3 (فيرموير) حزمتي تطوير كي يصبح قادراً على تشغيل مواد مجسمة ثلاثية الأبعاد Stereoscopic 3D contents، واحدة لتشغيل أفلام بلوراي والأخرى من أجل الألعاب. حيث ستقوم شاشات Bravia الجديدة ببث هذه المواد بتردد 120 هرتز وسيتطلب ذلك من المشاهد وضع نظارات خاصة تقوم بتركيب هذه الصور الثنائية الخاصة وتعطيه الإحساس بعمق الصور وبتجسيم الأشكال الفراغية ( تشبه سينما IMAX إلى حد ما).

وفيما لم يتم تأكيد قائمة الألعاب القادمة لهذه التقنية، فإن “بينسون” قال:

“لا علم لي إن قمنا في مرة سابقة بالإعلان عمّا سنقدمه عند الإطلاق. لكن من المؤكد بأنه سيتوفر طيف جيد من المواد الخاصة – ودعونا نقول بأنه لن يكون هناك أية مفاجآت غير متوقعة.”

في وقت مبكر من هذا العام، قامت سوني بعرض شاشاتها المجسمة من خلال تشغيل بعض الألعاب التي تدعم تقنية التجسيم ثلاثي الأبعاد stereoscopic 3D، مثل لعبة WipEout HD، Super Stardust HD، MotorStor: Pacific Rift، Little Big Planet و Gran Turismo 5. وفيما بدت بعض الألعاب متعة للنظر كما في حال Super Stardust و Wipeout HD فإن ألعاباً أخرى تستغل عمق نطاق البصر الذي توفره الألعاب ثلاثية الأبعاد لتحسين الأداء. فاستخدام المكابح في لعبة GT5 مثلاً سيبدو واقعياً بشكل اكبر لأن العين ستستطيع تمييز اختلاف المسافة مع تغير السرعة بشكل يقارب الحياة الحقيقية.

قد يكون وضع النظارات مزعجاً إلى حد ما، فماذا عن وزن البطارية التي يجب أن تغذي تلك النظارات بالكهرباء، لا شك بأن عالم الألعاب المجسمة لم يصل إلى حدود الخيال العلمي الذي شاهناه في فيلم Avatar. لكن لنأمل أن تقنيات المستقبل ستسمح لنا بالتخلص من النظارات ومشاكلها دفعة واحدة، أو أن يتم استخدام تقنيات العرض الفراغية Holograms مثلاً.
