PlayStations are back to normal عودة شبكة بلاي ستيشن للعمل بشكل طبيعي

We can now say that everything is back to normal, 24 hours after the first reports started showing up from users down under (=Australia) complaining from a bizarre error message showing up on their PS3 screens, bringing their PS3 consoles to a stand still, as they kept rebooting time after time. Sony confirmed the glitch and apologized to their PS3 fat users. The culprit is the internal clock functionality in the PS3, thinking that 2010 is a leap year, and so forced the PS3 world to either go by its rule or go home! As for the damage report, we expect to read more scary user experiences in the coming days, but for the time being, the Trophy system was the greatest casualty of this glitch, as users risked losing some or all of their Trophies if they logged on to PSN on that fateful day.

8001050F = ApocalyPS3? يوم انهيار جهاز بلاي ستيشن الثالث

Reports started coming in just after 4am today (12am GMT/ 4pm PST) that people were getting a bizarre error when turning on their PS3s. The 8001050F error shows up when the PS3 turns on and tries to connect to the PSN. The PS3 can’t connect to the PSN due to an internal system clock bug. It’s basically glitching on a leap year status, which 2010 is not, resulting in your PS3 getting a random clock date set some time in the past (31/12/1999 in most cases!). You can’t connect to PSN and won’t be able to play any game you purchased from the PSN, nor any DLC.

May joined Sony Gulf late 2007, and since then has been hard at work to make the PlayStation logo be recognized in every household!

Q. Must have been a busy week for you with FIWC event just finished. What’s your overall impression about the tournament?
Yes, it was most certainly a busy week for us, but thoroughly enjoyable. We saw people fly in from various part of the region as well as crowds come in directly to register. The tournament is the largest football gaming tournament and every year it becomes more popular and competitive.

78% of PS3 users online in the Middle East أغلبية مالكي بلايستيشن3 في الشرق الأوسط يلعبون على شبكة سوني

In a recent PR update, Sony Gulf was kind enough to share some local figures with us. Sure, there were the usual big November ‘09 numbers of 3.8 million PS3s selling worldwide and over 38 million users on their PSN service, but some numbers also showed up that piqued our interest.

The entire Middle East region, historically dominated by the PlayStation brand, has a total install base of 450k units as of December 2009. Of these, over 350k users are registered and using the PSN service, accounting for roughly 1% of worldwide online players. Sadly we don’t have sales figures from Microsoft who officially launched their Xbox 360 only a month after the PS3’s launch in April 2007. Neither do we have Xbox Live figures for comparison with the PSN numbers since Live is officially unavailable in this region! A lot of games therefore come without the ‘Xbox Live’ logo on the box (eg. Halo 3 ODST), but enterprising gamers will always find a way to get online.

MAG open beta is go! إصدار نسخة اختبارية من لعبة م اج

Remember the first time you heard about Massive Action Game at Sony’s 2008 E3 press conference? Remember how you thought this name is so silly they have to change it? And how there’s NO WAY the PS3’s weak network infrastructure (let alone a home console) will be able to support 256 players online?
