Today is the day folks, for anyone still clinging to the online services of yesteryear and for whom the AOL disc is the whole internet. Today at 12am midnight (well, technically its 12pm tomorrow for us in Dubai), Microsoft pulls the plug on the original Xbox Live servers.

RIP: Discontinuation of Xbox LIVE for Original Xbox Games رثاء ألعاب اكس بوكس الأول على شبكة لايف

In a blog post by Marc Whitten; Xbox Live’s General Manager, Microsoft has officially announced that it will end Xbox Live support for the original Xbox games console, as the service will officially be stopped on April 15th. Xbox Live has been running for over 7 years now, and 9 years after launching the first Xbox gaming console, it’s online functionality will come to an end. Microsoft will start by shutting off auto-renewals for all Xbox Live members who use the online gaming service with the original Xbox. Marking this sad announcement, Bungie is inviting all Xbox and Halo 2 fans to go online on April 14th for one last hoorah; one final farewell and one final opportunity for all fans to kick their asses at Halo 2.
