New Trailer for Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands فيلم دعائي جديد من لعبة “برنس أوف برشيا” القادمة

Ubisoft has released a new video for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, showcasing the next instalment’s gameplay techniques, going back to its roots (i.e. side scrolling levels), while showing a small glimpse at the story and how it unfolds, the wall runs and the acrobatics jumps that the prince is famous for. Yipee, 10 Million Wii !! عشرة ملايين جهاز ووي

Nintendo’s motion-sensing gaming console, the Wii, has now passed the 10 million unit install base in Nintendo’s homeland of Japan, according to Famitsu magazine, which got the figures from its mother company Enterbain, as reported by Andriasang on his blog. According to Enterbrain, 10,009,736 Nintendo Wiis have been sold, 4,766,408 PS3s have been sold and 1,235,049 Xbox 360s, as Kotaku has reported as well.

[Dated] Mario Galaxy 2 + Monster Hunter Tri موعد إطلاق بعض أكثر الألعاب ترقباً على نينتيندو

The US got their press conference yesterday, with firm dates set for some of the most anticipated Nintendo titles of the year. Now we have ours:

• Monster Hunter Tri is out on 23rd April
• Sin & Punishment is out on 7th May
• Super Mario Galaxy 2 is out on 11th June
• Metroid: Other M is…Q3

Bumer about no fixed date for Metroid, which is out on 28th June in the US. My guess would be some time in July since all the other releases are a few weeks apart from their US counterparts. So now that all the major Wii releases have been announced, I wonder what surprises E3 will have…

Top 10 selling games in Kuwait in 09 أكثر عشر ألعاب مبيعاً في الكويت لعام 2009

And finally Al Ghanim Electronics in Kuwait finished crunching their numbers and sent out their list of top 10 selling videogames in their 15 outlets spreads all over Kuwait for the whole of last year, 2009. Yet again, there is no independent entity tasked to provide consumer and retail information, based on actual sales data from retailers and distributors as well as consumer-reported purchasing behavior, and so we had to rely on data provided from major retailers in the Middle East.

Japanese gamers divided on Dubs vs Subs اللاعبون اليابانيون منقسمون بين الترجمة النصية أو الدوبلاج

The Western market is usually up in arms about preserving “the way it was meant to be” when Japanese games are dubbed with English voiceovers. In fact, it’s quite rare to see a Japanese game being localised for the West and coming out with just English text; this is of course to appeal to the Western Market. As far as the diehard fans are concerned, most prefer their Japanese games to be subtitled, instead of outright dubbing. A recent example of this is FF XIII where the main theme song is performed by Leona Lewis, which has caused outrage within the fan community. Whether this is because having an English song is going outside of tradition of the Final Fantasy series where all games retained the Japanese song in the Western release, or people actually detest Leona Lewis is unknown. Maybe both.

That said, it’s always nice to have a perspective on the other end of the spectrum; how do Japanese players feel about Western games that are localised? (more…)

Toy Story 3: The Video Game announced إعلان العمل على لعبة توي ستوري الثالثة

Here’s the low down before the Press Release which is after the jump. The game is being developed by Avalanche Software for all current-gen platforms including handhelds, and another game just for mobile phones later on. There will also be an iphone app which ties-in to the movie.

The game has two separate modes: the Story Mode will have open-world gameplay and the Toy Box mode lets users create their own adventures. The sandbox environment for the Story Mode makes perfect sense, while the Toy Box mode is yet to be revealed in much detail, although we think it involves user generated levels. The game’s out on June 15th; we’ll have more info as the updates roll in.
