Top 5 Digital Distribution services – Part 1 أفضل خمسة متاجر لشراء الألعاب من الإنترنت – الجزء الأول

Downloading videogames online through digital distribution sites is a great way to get your PC games. Rather than inconvenience yourself by going to the store, or ordering online, you can simply download the game right away and straight to your hard drive. And it’s often cheaper, because those services don’t have so many expensive overheads like staff and premises; as you’re not buying anything physical. Bear in mind that you will have to abide by the DRM (digital rights management) rules when you download some games. DRM is basically a mean to make sure you’re not doing anything illegal with downloaded games, such as going over the installation limit, or giving the games out to friends.

To play games you download, you have to activate it with an internet connection each time you want to play, even if it’s not an online game. This harms gamers without access to internet because they can’t play games they have downloaded. DRM also harms the gaming market because a higher percentage of people turn to illegal copies of the games because they want to be able to play offline.

Anyway, if you’re interested in downloading games and want to learn more; I’ve reviewed several game distribution sites, and here is my top 5 list.

5- Game Tap

In the 5th spot I’ve chosen ‘Game Tap’. This site is presented well, everything looks quite tidy and it’s set out logically. This makes it user friendly, and easy to find the information you want. I found it simple to navigate around the site and locate the games I wanted to play. One thing that sets this site apart is that it offers two different services in the form of straight to hard drive downloads, and a subscription based service. The hard drive downloads is nothing new, you pick a game, buy it and download it to play. The subscription based service is unique and good, an excellent idea; you pay for a type of subscription, and you can play as much or as little as you want from a separate games list, but don’t expect to play new releases.

After reviewing the forums for the site, I found that many users are having problems and issues with the technical side of the site. Some people can’t install the required applications for the subscription based service and others can play the games they’ve downloaded.

The site scores a 7/10 on my scale, it’s tidy, easy to navigate and offers two good services, but be aware that you may encounter some technical problems.

4- Impulse

A site called ‘Impulse’ ranks 4th on this list; it looks very slick and stylish, it’s a real treat for the eyes, but it is lacking in functionality. I found it a little difficult to navigate around the site and browse for games I wanted, and they didn’t have everything I looked for – What site doesn’t have Batman: Arkham Asylum? Or Modern Warfare 2!? When I did find a game, it was sometimes region locked, so gamers of the Middle East won’t be able to use all the games on this site. When I eventually located a game that wasn’t region locked, it was part of an attractive pricing structure, also they had some good deals going on.
’Impulse’ does have an application for you to download that makes getting your games easier, but you may experience a few hiccups when installing and using; not enough to stop you from using this site.
The site looks great, the layout and design is neat, but it didn’t offer me everything I wanted, especially in the gaming department, so I deserves 7.5/10

3- Gamers Gate

‘Gamers’ Gate’ is presented well, if not a little clustered, but at least you know the information is there, you just have to find it. It wasn’t as easy to navigate as the other sites, but I did manage to find my way around and locate the games I wanted, so be prepared to do a little work to find what you want. The deals and general pricing structure of the site is pretty decent, there are a few good deals, and the overall price of the games isn’t extortionate.

The site does offer a handy little feature that alerts you when the price of a game you select has dropped. But apart from this one redeeming quality, that sets it apart from the other sites, this site is generic and straight forward; you log in, download games and play.

It offers everything you need to download and play games, and it’s presented in a stylish way, but a bit clumsy, so this site
gets 8/10.

يعتبر شراء الألعاب من الإنترنت بواسطة منافذ التوزيع الرقمية digital distribution وسيلة رائعة للحصول على ألعاب الحاسوب PC. فبدلاً من إزعاج نفسك والذهاب إلى المتاجر العادية أو طلب الألعاب من الإنترنت (على أقراص DVD) وانتظار وصولها، يمكنك من خلال المتاجر الرقمية تحميل تلك الألعاب مباشرة على قرصك الصلب، وبأسعار أرخص على الدوام، لأن هذه المواقع لا تضطر لتحمل كتكاليف الموظفين والتخزين، حيث أنك لاتشتري أي شيء بشكله الفيزيائي الصلب. غير أنه يجب أن تعرف بأنك ستكون ملزماً بالتقيد بأنظمة الحماية و إدارة الحقوق الرقمية (Digital Rights Management) عند تحميل بعض هذه الألعاب. مهمة نظام DRM بشكل أساسي هو التأكد من أنك لا تقوم بأية أعمال غير مشروعة بالنسخة التي قمت بتحميلها، مثل تنصيبها لعدد مرات أكثر من المسموح به، أو إعطائها لأصدقائك ليستعملوها دون شرائها.

لتلعب باللعبة التي قمت بتحميلها، يتوجب عليك الاتصال بالإنترنت في كل مرة ترغب بها باللعب، حتى وإن لم يكن نوع اللعبة يتطلب الاتصال بالإنترنت. وهذا يزعج اللاعبين الذين لا تتوفر لديهم وصلة إنترنت، لأنهم لن يستطيعوا اللعب بألعابهم التي قاموا بتحميلها. كما يؤذي نظام DRM سوق الألعاب بشكل آخر لأنه يجبر العديد من اللاعبين على شراء النسخ المقرصنة من اللعبة في حال رغبتهم باللعب دون اتصال بالإنترنت.

بكل الأحوال، إذا كنت مهتماً بتحميل الألعاب وتريد أن تتعلم المزيد عن ذلك، فقد قمت باستعراض العديد من مقدمي خدمات التوزيع الرقمي ، وهاكم قائمتي التي تتضمن أفضل 5 مواقع.

طريقة عرض محتويات هذا الموقع جيدة، وكل شيء فيه مرتب بشكل أنيق وضمن تسلسل منطقي. وذلك يجعل منه لطيفاً للمستخدم، ويسهّل عملية إيجاد المعلومات التي تريدها. كما وجدت أن عملية البحث عن الألعاب التي أريدها بسيطة جداً. أما مايميز هذا الموقع عن غيره فهي أنه يوفر نوعين من الخدمات: خدمة التحميل المباشر على قرصك الصلب، وخدمة تقوم على الاشتراك في الموقع. خدمة التحميل على القرص الصلب واضحة وليست شيئاً جديداً، فأنت تقوم باختيار اللعبة، تدفع ثمنها وتقوم بتحميلها وتلعب بها بعد ذلك. أما خدمة الاشتراك فهي فريدة وجديدة، وحقيقة أنها فكرة ممتازة، حيث تقوم بدفع المال للاشتراك بقوائم معينة من الألعاب، وعندها سيتاح لك اللعب بأية لعبة موجودة ضمن هذه القوائم ، لكن لاتتوقعوا أن تجدوا أحدث الالعاب فيها.

بعد أن قمت بالتجوال في المنتدى الرسمي للموقع، فقد وجدت أن العديد من زبائنه يعانون من مشاكل تقنية بآلية عمل الموقع، حيث لم يستطع البعض تنصيب البرامج المطلوبة لتشغيل خدمات الموقع مثل خدمة الاشتراك، وآخرون يشتكون من عدم قدرتهم على تشغيل الألعاب التي قاموا بشرائها.

أعطي هذا الموقع تقييما 7 من 10، فهو أنيق وسهل الاستعمال ويحتوي خدمات جيدة، غير أنك قد تعاني من بعض المشاكل التقنية.

4- Impulse

يبدو موقع Impulse أنيقاً وعصرياً إلى حد كبير، وهو ممتع حقاً من الناحية الفنية، غير أن الناحية الوظيفية هي ما ينقصه. فقد وجدت أن التجوال بداخله للبحث عن الألعاب التي أرغب بشرائها عملية صعبة إلى حد ما، كما لم أجد لديهم كل ما أريد (تخيلوا أني لم أجد Batman: Arkham Asylum أو Modern Warfare 2!)، أما عندما وجدت لعبة أريدها فعلاً فقد كانت مقيدة الاستعمال فقط بمكان جغرافي Region Lock، وهكذا فإن لاعبي الشرق الأوسط لن يستطيعوا شراء كل الألعاب من هذا الموقع. وعندما نجحت أخيراً بالعثور على لعبة غير مقيدة بالمكان، فقد عرضوا علي سعراً جذاباً، كما أغروني بمجموعة عروض خاصة.

يحتوي الموقع على برنامج ليساعدك على تحميل ما تريد من ألعاب، وقد تواجه بعض المشاكل الفنية عندما تقوم بتنصيبه، غير أن كل ذلك لن يوقفك عن استعمال هذا الموقع.

يبدو الموقع رائعاً، تصميمه متميز جداً، غير أنه فشل بتقديم أية لعبة كنت أود الحصول عليها، وهكذا فإنه يستحق 7.5 من 10.

3- Gamers Gate

يتم عرض محتويات موقع Gamers Gate بشكل جيد، صحيح أنه يبدو مشتتاً قليلاً، غير أنك ستجد المعلومات التي تريدها حتماً، وما عليك إلا الوصول إليها. لم يكن تصفح هذا الموقع بسيطاً مثل غيره من المواقع، غير أني نجحت بإيجاد طريقي من خلاله والوصول إلى الألعاب التي كنت أريدها، لذلك عليكم أن تكونوا مستعدين لبذل بعض الجهد للحصول على ما تبغون. أما نظام التسعير والعروض الموجودة في الموقع فهي جيدة جداً، والسعر الإجمالي للألعاب لم يكن مبالغاً فيه أبداً.

يعرض الموقع عليك خدمة لطيفة تقوم بإعلامك حال انخفاض سعر لعبة كنت قد أظهرت رغبتك في شرائها. وبعيداً عن الجودة المقبولة، فإن مايميز هذا الموقع عن غيره هو تعامله المباشر، فأنت تسجل الدخول إليه، تحمّل اللعبة ثم تلعب بها، بكل يسر وسهولة.

يقدم لك هذا الموقع كل ما تحتاجه لتحميل وممارسة الألعاب، وهو معروض بطريقة عصرية، ولكنها خرقاء بعض الشيء، وهكذا فسيحصل الموقع على 8/10.
